Buena Vista Mexican Restaurant has been a proud part of the Lakeview neighborhood since 2004, serving delicious, authentic Mexican food made with passion, heritage and dedication. The story begins with Benjamin Ramirez, who immigrated from Mexico and built his career in Chicago’s restaurant scene.
Through hard work and determination, he and his wife Maricela decided to open a restaurant — and found a defining moment that would become one of Lakeview’s most beloved Mexican dining institutions.

How it all began
With unwavering faith and a dream to bring the flavors of his homeland to Chicago, Benjamin decided to invest in what would become Buena Vista Mexican Restaurant. He kept the restaurant’s original name and opened it with his wife, Maricela, laying the foundation for what would soon become one of the best-loved Mexican restaurants in Lakeview, Chicago.
Today, Buena Vista remains one of the most trusted family-owned Mexican restaurants on North Broadway — a place where every guest is welcomed like a neighbor, and every plate tells a story.

Located at 3147 North Broadway, Buena Vista quickly became a neighborhood fixture — known for its warm hospitality, colorful atmosphere, and signature dishes like tacos, enchiladas, and guacamole prepared fresh daily. What started as a dream became one of the most recognized authentic Mexican restaurants in Lakeview, Chicago.
Over the years, both Benjamin and Maricela’s children — now proud college graduates — have worked alongside them, making Buena Vista a true family effort in every sense of the word. Three generations of the Ramirez family have poured their energy, their recipes, and their love into this restaurant, and every plate that leaves our kitchen reflects that dedication.
The Lakeview neighborhood has given so much to this family, and Buena Vista exists as a way of giving back — one meal at a time.
